Benefits Of RockTape During A Massage

RockTape or Sports Tape can provide the following to an injured area: support, increased circulation, blood, and lymphatic flow to the affected area, reduced pain, and improved functionality for joints and muscles. Applying tape during a massage can also provide neurological benefits, altering your perception of pain and improving your bodily awareness, preventing the injury from worsening.

How Does RockTape Help?

When applied correctly, RockTape’s unique elasticity causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle, decompressing the tissue immediately below the skin.  The adhesive of RockTape is sticky enough to hold to your skin for prolonged periods of time. Sports tape microscopically lifts the skin away from the muscle and fascia below, creating a decompressive effect.

Benefits of Kinesiology Tape + FAQ

Learn the benefits of sports taping during your massage!

Reduce Pain

RockTape is used to reduce pain. Applying RockTape over the area where someone is having pain will actually reduce the pain signals to the brain.

Activate Muscles

Often times patients come in with hip pain or knee pain for no reason. Most likely this is because the muscle is not activated, which means it is not initiating motion so other muscles have to create that motion. Applying RockTape will activate those muscles!

Improve Mobility

RockTape is made with 180% elasticity, allowing the athlete fuller and better range of motion.

Reduce Swelling

Sports tape can help improve circulation and blood flow, reducing swelling in the area where you are hurt.

What Conditions Can RockTape Treat?

Cupping

What Is Cupping? Book Cupping Massages in Springfield, MO

Cupping creates a suction force that expands and breaks open tiny blood vessels under the skin. The body will send more blood to the cupped area to stimulate your body’s natural healing process. Cupping is an effective technique to get rid of muscle tension in your lower back; neck and shoulder aches; tension headaches and loosen off tight ‘knots’.  While we all have organs that remove toxins from our blood, cupping gives your body a boost in releasing those toxins by physically suctioning them out of your tissues.  Focused blood flow helps your body by flushing built-up toxins move through the lymphatic system.

At Precision Wellness in Springfield, MO, offer 30-minute, 60-minute, and 90-minute treatments. Whether you’re an athlete at MSU, Drury, or OTC looking for sore muscle relief, or are looking for ways to enhance your fitness routine, book cupping near you.

How Does Cupping Work? The Origins + Work of Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine rooting back to Ancient Egypt, although cupping is a part of many ancient healing systems, including Chinese, Korean, Tibetan, and more! Cupping Therapy is when a therapist uses special cups on your skin to create suction. This promotes blood flow to the compromised area, enhances circulation, and helps to increase the body’s own healing processes — almost like a backward deep tissue massage.

What Are The Benefits Of Cupping?

Many believe that cupping improves the flow of energy in the body and facilitates healing. That the suction helps balance the yin and yang, or the negative and positive, within your body. Restoring balance between these two extremes is thought to help the body’s resistance to pathogens as well as its ability to increase blood flow and reduce pain. Wondering if cupping could work for you?  Ask your therapist during your next massage session. You can choose to have a cupping-only session or add cupping on to your next deep tissue massage.

Increase Circulation + Flush Toxins

The suction from the cups increases circulation to the area where the cups are placed. The additional blood flow to that area can help relieve muscle tension and promote cell repair. Drink lots and lots of water after your session to aid in this process!

Reduce Stretch Marks, Scars + Cellulite

Increased blood flow created by cupping enables your body to dispose of toxins, restore lymphatic circulation, and remove edema to reduce the appearance of scarring, cellulite, and stretch marks.

Improve Varicose Veins

Varicose veins happen when the valves inside the vein are not working properly, the valves don’t effectively push the blood from the muscles back to the heart. Cupping helps by bringing the fresh blood flow and oxygen back to the problem areas.

Clear Congestion + Treat Asthma

The suction from cups breaks up and expels congestion. Bringing oxygen rich blood and lymph toward your lungs and your other respiratory muscles.

Deep Tissue Massage

What is A Deep Tissue Massage? Book Deep Tissue Massages in Springfield, Missouri

Deep tissue massage involves applying very firm pressure to any knotted muscles or aching areas of the body. Rather than doing this technique all over the body, a deep tissue massage is done in specific areas for the best results. Deep tissue massage uses pressure to work past the first layer of muscle tissue to relieve more chronic types of pain and increase joint mobility. Deep tissue massage has a “good hurt” sensation and can relieve chronic pain and increase joint mobility.

We offer 30-minute, 60-minute, and 90-minute treatments.

How Does Deep Tissue Massage Work?

When you live with chronic muscle tension or get injured, adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue also often called scar tissue) can develop in your connective tissue including your muscles, tendons and ligaments, and fascia. Adhesions can block circulation, cause pain or numbness, and limit movement. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore natural movement. To do this, our massage therapists use advanced massage techniques including deep direct pressure and friction applied across the grain of the muscles. Learn more about how to prepare for your deep tissue massage.

The Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is ideal for people with physically demanding jobs, athletes, or others with an active lifestyle. Deep tissue massage therapy can help those with headaches, back pain, joint pain, accident recovery, sports injuries, trigger point referral pain, and fibromyalgia, and may benefit those with physically demanding jobs or extra muscle tension.

  • Promotes healing and recovery from injury
  • Releases muscle tension
  • Breaks down scar tissue and adhesions

Will Deep Tissue Massage Hurt?

At certain points during the deep tissue massage, you may experience some discomfort. You may be asked to breathe deeply as we work on certain tense areas. It is important to communicate with your massage therapist whenever things hurt. We never want you to let any soreness or pain go outside your comfort range. Many people hold a misconception that more is always better and that there is no gain without pain, but that is not true of massage pressure. It is also important to drink plenty of water before and after your massage to flush the metabolic waste from the tissues and prevent soreness.

While people tend to think this type of massage will be relaxing, deep tissue massage will often make you feel very sore for the days following your appointment. It’s common to feel a little sore the days after a deep tissue massage, but it is important to communicate with your therapist about the massage pressure. This massage is not incredibly painful, however, it may be uncomfortable to some as the muscles are worked on. We promise that in the end, it’s worth it! It is normal to be sore for a day or so after a deep tissue massage, but if you are sore for three days or more please tell your therapist so they can adjust their pressure in future sessions.

How Is Deep Tissue Massage Different From Other Massages?

Swedish massage is usually what people think of when they imagine a massage – muscles relaxing, calming motions, and barely any soreness the next day. This can be quite different from deep tissue massages, where more rigorous work is performed on your muscles and fascia to break up painful knots or muscle tightness.

For deep tissue massages, it’s always important to communicate with your massage therapist about any painful areas on your body. Don’t hesitate to speak up if the pressure is too much! Alternatively, you should also say something if you want more intense pressure. Each person is different in their tolerance level, and supplying your massage therapist with this feedback can help deliver the best deep tissue massage for you.
